Privacy notice for the Zava Energy app
For the Zava Energy iPhone app. Last updated: 2026-09-11. The zava.pro website has its own privacy notice.
The short version: the app does not collect anything about you. It has no account, no sign-up, and no analytics. The ZIP code you type stays on your phone.
What the app does
Zava Energy shows you the residential electricity offers that suppliers have published to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio's Apples-to-Apples comparison, ranks them by what they would actually cost against your utility's standard rate, and marks the ones that are fully renewable and free of the usual traps (early-termination fees, monthly fees, variable rates). It is a comparison. It does not enroll you with anyone.
What we collect
Nothing. Specifically:
- No account. There is nothing to sign up for or sign in to. We do not ask for your name, email address, street address, phone number, or utility account number, and there is no screen that could accept them.
- Your ZIP code stays on the phone. The offer data for every Ohio utility territory is built into the app itself. Typing a ZIP code looks it up in that built-in table on your device. It is not sent to us or to anyone else, and the app does not remember it between launches.
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking. The app contains no analytics library, no advertising library, and no crash-reporting service of ours. It makes no network requests of its own. The app's privacy manifest declares no collected data and no tracking, and its App Store privacy label will read "Data Not Collected."
- No location. The app does not ask for or use your phone's location. Your territory comes from the ZIP you type.
When you leave the app
- Supplier links. Tapping a supplier's sign-up or terms link opens that supplier's own website in Safari. From that point the supplier's privacy policy applies, not this one. The links are plain links to the supplier's public page: they carry no referral code, no tracking parameter, and nothing that identifies you or tells the supplier you came from Zava.
- PUCO and Ohio Consumers' Counsel links. The methodology screen links to the public PUCO Apples-to-Apples page and to the Ohio Consumers' Counsel fact sheet on household usage. Those are state websites with their own notices.
- Sharing. During the beta, the share button, the Copy link button and the QR code on the Share screen all give out the same link: an invitation to join the Zava Energy beta through Apple's TestFlight. The share button hands it to the iPhone share sheet. What happens next (a text message, an email, AirDrop) is handled by that app under its own terms; Zava does not see who you shared with. Someone who opens the link joins through TestFlight, described in the next section.
During the TestFlight beta
While the app is distributed through Apple's TestFlight, Apple may collect crash logs, and you may choose to send feedback and screenshots through TestFlight. That data goes to Apple under Apple's privacy policy and TestFlight terms; Apple shares crash logs and any feedback you send with us so we can fix bugs. We do not receive anything you do not choose to send, and we cannot see how you use the app. This paragraph stops applying when the app is installed from the App Store rather than TestFlight.
Children
The app is for adults who pay an Ohio electric bill and is not directed at children under 13. Because it collects nothing, there is nothing for us to delete if a child uses it.
Changes
If a future version of the app starts collecting anything, this notice will change first and the app will say so on screen before it happens. The date at the top is the date of the last change. We keep every earlier version; ask and we will send you one.
